Dear Friends,
If I were six years old, I might say what a yucky year this has been and If I were 76 years old I might reflect on what a lonely, frightening, profoundly unsettling time it has been; and for all those in between, indeed difficult, difficult, difficult! Certainly, none of us could ever have anticipated either the myriad of challenges or the magnitude of distress we have all faced.
Even so, and in spite of all the turmoil and uncertainty, we at Eli’s Place continue to make progress, all because of your loyalty and support, and for that, we are ever so grateful!
We continue our growth in and commitment to best practices in governance, fund raising, partnerships, strategic planning, and Board development! And I am always so bolstered by the interest Eli’s Place generates, demonstrated continuously by the pool of truly talented professionals that wish to serve on our Board!
But we need you now more than ever ………… mental health has come to be simply that much more pressing in these unprecedented times, and the importance of establishing our rural, residential treatment facility for young adults struggling with serious mental illness is simply more urgent.
So check your inbox for Eli’s Place because we have a very special end-of-year story we want to share. One courageous family, touched by their son’s struggles, has chosen to openly share their heartbreaking journey with the goal of making a difference. They join us in “Seeking Legacy and Hope” for so many young adults struggling with mental illness who could not find hope, and they speak to the pain and heartache of so many families who will continue to search. Read it; then read it again.
Unprecedented times, unprecedented need, and our hope for unprecedented generosity.
With our year-end appeal fast approaching, our heartfelt appreciation for all you have done and continue to do!
Sincerely,
Carol Cowan-Levine, Chair
