But Eli’s Place: Filling the Gap did more than define the gap in care that exists for young adults with serious mental illness! The evening made visible the need for a therapeutic centre like ours. From the compelling personal experience of one family, to the thoughtful questions that poured in for our panelists throughout the evening, a sense of urgency was clear.
Watch the webinar below and share it with friends. Our organization is growing; we rely on you, our community of supporters, to keep Eli’s Place top of mind.

In particular we’d like to thank: Amanda Lang, our very capable and compassionate moderator; Susan Joyce and John Kingdom whose family’s journey drew a clear and poignant picture of the struggle to find help; and Tamara McKernan whose enthusiasm in sharing the successes of Gould Farm was obvious. Members of the Eli’s Place Board and staff – Carol Cowan-Levine, Joel Shapiro and Ellis Katsof – each of you represented Eli’s Place with insight and professionalism.
This webinar discussed some difficult subject matter. While not easy, living a full and rich life with mental illness is possible. None of our speakers sugar coated the challenges, yet each shared a clear vision of progress, possibility and above all hope! We hope you sensed it too.
And speaking of progress, we’d love to keep you informed of everything going on at Eli’s Place. If you’re not already registered, please click here to sign up for our newsletter. Of course we can’t continue to move forward without the generosity of our donors. Click here if you would like to make a donation.
Finally, the information referenced in the webinar, including the list of helpful resources; Gould Farm’s fact sheet, advertisement and outcomes study results; and the Eli’s Place “Case for Support” are included here.
In his remarks Dr. Shapiro quoted Robert Louis Stevenson: “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” At Eli’s Place we continue to plant the seeds of recovery through illuminating the need, sharing our vision and providing hope for the future. Together we will open the doors of Eli’s Place.
